Frequently Asked Questions About S'Better Farms
About the Company

S’Better Farms evolved from Beverly Hills Caterers, the premier upscale kosher caterer in Beverly Hills, California, in the 80’s and 90’s.  Beverly Hills Caterers began a kosher foodsevice division and produced food for kosher events at virtually every four and five star hotel in the United States.
Over the years, with cutbacks in hotels’ culinary departments, we became their vendor for unusual foods they did not want to make themselves.  In this role we learned how to make wheat free, gluten free food.  Now S’Better Farms puts that same four and five star hotel quality into frozen retail supermarket products.

About Our Products

Is the chicken free range?

All of our chicken is free range, grain fed without animal by-products, raised without hormones and is verified antibiotic free.  Our chicken has no unsightly yellow fat under the skin which demonstrates that it has not been fed yellow corn which is the only potential source of GMO’s.

What is the source of the beef?
All the beef in our products comes from Canada and Uruguay where cattle are all grazed in the open on grass and finished on alfalfa and molasses before slaughter.  The governments of Canada and Uruguay prohibit the use of hormones.

What about Humane Slaughter?

All the meat and poultry is slaughtered by hand, in such a way that the trachea and carotid artery are severed by a knife so sharp that there is no feeling until the cut is completed.  The individual's hand is actually on the animal and if it jerks or shudders during the cutting , suggesting it might have felt something, the animal is deemed not kosher.  Further, an internal examination is made of the cattle and if there are lesions on the lungs or other organs indicating the animal may have been unwell in the past, the animal is deemed not kosher.

Do your products contain GMO’s?
All of our ingredients are certified non-GMO.  We are told the difference is that there is potential seed contamination from birds or rodents in the white corn fields where our Meal and Flour is produced from nearby yellow corn fields, which is the genus that has a history of genetic modification.

How do you keep your product wheat free and gluten free?  Are there other potential allergens?
Our products are made and packed in a wheat free, gluten free environment that is also free of peanuts, dairy or dairy derivatives, fish, shellfish, and tree nuts.  Many of our products contain eggs which are listed on the label and occasionally soybean oil is used on the equipment, but there is a thorough steam cleaning after we use soybean oil, which is supervised by the USDA under our Hazard Aanalysis and Critical Control Point Plan.  All of this information is disclosed on every package
